Early opening visit to Iolani Palace

Day 2

Before the day's crowds, visit Honolulu's extraordinary Iolani Palace

Built in 1882 by King Kalakaua, Iolani Palace in Honolulu was Hawaii's official royal residence and the Hawaiian monarchy's seat of government until its overthrow in 1893. A National Historic Landmark since 1962 and the only official royal residence in the United States, the Palace is one of Hawaii's most recognizable buildings; restored to its former grandeur, it evokes a time when their Majesties King Kalakaua and his sister and successor, Queen Liliuokalani, walked its grand halls. An exclusive guided visit, before the day's crowds, provides insights and stories into the palace's rich legacy.

Gourmet cooking on Maui

Day 10

Enjoy a hands-on gourmet cooking experience on Maui

While today's Maui chefs do still draw upon classic Hawaiian culinary traditions including Kalua roast pork, poi (ground taro), ahi poke (raw ahi tuna), mahi-mahi and others, they take delight in the abundance of locally raised beef, tropical fruits and vegetables grown in fertile volcanic soil, and fresh fish – and preparing them with a fusion of Californian, Chinese, Polynesian, Filipino, and Korean flavors. You're invited for a look at modern Maui cuisine during a hands-on gourmet cooking experience with local chefs during lunch at a well-known Maui restaurant.

The Royal Hawaiian

Nights 1, 2 and 3

Welcome to the "Pink Palace of the Pacific"

Built in 1927, the Royal Hawaiian – a.k.a. the "Pink Palace of the Pacific" – is a Honolulu landmark of luxury situated directly on Waikiki Beach, offering panoramic views of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean, two pools and a private beach area. This elegant Grande Dame has been welcoming guests to Waikiki for over 90 years, providing a gracious introduction to traditional Hawaii with its prime beachfront location and charming Old World ambiance.

Hawaii is my idea of Paradise, beautiful islands, gorgeous resorts, friendly people. The trip had a nice balance of organized activities and leisure time.
