Flightseeing from Vancouver to Victoria

Inspiring the imagination...

Among the many modes of transportation on our Grand Canadian Rockies journey, the floatplane excursion from Vancouver to Victoria is often cited as guests' favorite. Flightseeing takes you over the pristine Gulf Islands, numbering more than 200, en route to Victoria – easily identified from the air by its remarkably winding coastline.

Overnight rail journey aboard "The Canadian"

Day 4

Behind the scenes of a legendary journey by rail...

The idea in the 1870s was to forge a railway connection between Canada’s eastern provinces and British Columbia; the problem was the spectacular Canadian Rockies that stood in the way, a railway-builder’s nightmare of soaring peaks and plunging grades that made a straightforward approach impossible. The solution the Canadian Pacific Railway settled on was an ingenious idea borrowed from the railway builders of the Swiss Alps, a network of tracks and tunnels that spiraled around and through the mountains instead of trying to climb over them, significantly reducing the grade (and the danger) of the route, while creating a somewhat whimsical, mind-bending warren through Kicking Horse Pass, where the back of a train can sometimes encounter its front, as it winds along its overlapping route.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Night 7

An enduring tradition of hospitality...

Built 100 years ago, the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is surrounded by soaring mountain peaks, majestic Victoria Glacier and a glistening emerald lake... Located in Alberta's Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the beautiful resort hotel is recognized globally for an enduring tradition of hospitality excellence along with progressive environmental stewardship and responsible tourism. Well-appointed guest rooms, fine dining and a fabulous spa complement endless outdoor recreational activities including hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, mountain biking and river rafting.

Each day was an adventure, with new sights and opportunities to explore and learn... it was great experiencing mother nature in her glory.

From the moment we arrived in Vancouver until we reached the Calgary airport, Tauck pampered us with beautiful hotel room views, good food & memorable tours. Itinerary included highlights at each stop, and we enjoyed an appropriate amount of free time. Tour guide Nancy [Employee Name] was knowledgeable, attentive and fun. We especially enjoyed her hats!
