Legendary Journeys and Adventures

Embrace the changing seasons of America's first national park, when the land is anything but still. In spring, rivers crack free, buds burst into wildflowers, and newborn animals begin to explore the rhythms of the wild. Come autumn, after the summer crowds have departed, the landscape glows auburn in warm light as wildlife – young and mature alike – prepare for the cooler months ahead.

On this 6-day journey, each day reveals a different side of Yellowstone. Trace a story of our natural world with a visit to the Museum of the Rockies, whose massive fossil collection and planetarium illuminate discoveries millions of years in the making. Spend two mornings exploring the iconic Lamar Valley with expert guides who lead you to wildlife-rich landscapes in search of wolves, bears, bison, badgers, and more. Gain insider perspective during a behind-the-scenes visit to the Yellowstone Heritage and Research Center, and enjoy a conversation with a renowned wildlife photographer who has documented the park for decades. Our newest Yellowstone journey promises something different with every dawn.

Museum of the Rockies

Where Yellowstone's story begins…

Long before geysers steamed and bison roamed the valleys, dinosaurs ruled the ancient landscapes of Montana. At the renowned Museum of the Rockies, explore one of the world's most significant dinosaur fossil collections, where towering skeletons and groundbreaking discoveries reveal a prehistoric world millions of years in the making. A planetarium experience lifts the story even further – into the vast skies that define Montana's "Big Sky" country.

Yellowstone Research Center

Yellowstone beyond the park

Most visitors experience Yellowstone through its geysers, valleys, and wildlife. Few ever see the archives that preserve its deeper story. At the Yellowstone Heritage and Research Center, millions of historic photographs, artifacts, and scientific records safeguard the park's past. This rare behind-the-scenes visit reveals how researchers, historians, and park stewards continue to study and protect America's first national park.

Yellowstone in spring & fall

Wildlife in its most active season

In spring and fall, Yellowstone comes alive with the rhythms of the wild. In spring, a new generation emerges as bison calves, elk calves, and young pronghorn follow closely beside their mothers across open valleys, while bears return from hibernation and begin to roam once more. In autumn, cooler air signals a shift, as elk bugle across the landscape during the rut and wildlife grows increasingly active in preparation for winter. With fewer visitors and ever-changing conditions, these seasons offer a deeper, more vivid window into Yellowstone's natural world.

Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel

Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel

A cherished Yellowstone destination since 1937, the recently renovated Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Cabins takes its name from the steaming limestone terraces that lie just above the hotel. Elk wander the parade grounds of what was once Fort Yellowstone, and the rustic hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the wildlife-rich Lamar Valley.
