    Sophisticated styling, innovative "green" technology, and welcoming, attentive service are all hallmarks of Ponant's new limited-capacity Explorer Class yachts (boasting 92 staterooms and suites) – including Le Lapérouse, debuting for Tauck in 2018, and her sister ships Le Champlain and Le Dumont d'Urville, joining Tauck's fleet of handpicked small ships for the 2019 cruising season. Each of these new, state-of-the-art ships is a luxe mega-yacht featuring six passenger decks, a choice of two dining venues and all-included bar and restaurant beverages throughout the day aboard ship, including house wines and spirits. Their environmentally-friendly equipment, elegantly designed cabins, spacious suites with large windows, and lounge areas that open onto the outside make your time at sea a pleasure, and offer the perfect atmosphere for a truly unique cruising experience.

    Blue Eye Lounge

    Aquatic wildlife... underwater... on the outside looking in...

    Exclusive to our Explorer-Series small ships, Le Lapérouse, Le Dumont-d'Urville and Le Champlain, The Blue Eye lounge is the world's first multi-sensory, underwater lounge. The space's graphical references evoke cetaceans and jellyfish – and inspiration is evident in the lines of the lounge, the positioning of the body, the furniture and the fittings. All focus is drawn towards the two portholes, shaped like the eye of a cetacean and looking out upon the subaquatic world. The lighting in the lounge is developed through touches, disseminated in the space, allowing the spirit and the gaze to dive into the spectacle unfolding outside. The mural décor disappears to make way for the integrated digital screens projecting the images filmed live by three underwater cameras. Placed at the ship's strategic points, these cameras enable guests to witness, for example, the spectacle of dolphins playing in the bow waves.
